Summary
- Mercy's Pink Skin, initially rare due to limited release, became common after re-release in June 2024.
- Brigitte Medic Skin, exclusive to 2022 Twitch event, had low purchase rates due to unpopular design.
- Overwatch League Season One skins, like Florida Mayhem, Los Angeles Valiant & San Francisco Shock, are rare.

Determining the rarest Overwatch skins is incredibly difficult, as statistics for how many skins are purchased aren't public knowledge. That said, it is possible to narrow down what is likely to be the rarest skins based on a number of factors, including how long the skins were available for, whether the skins were later re-introduced to the game, and if players had to pay for something in order to obtain them.
Skins like Mercy's Pink Skin, offered as a partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, were at one point pretty rare but was re-released in June 2024, thereby making it far less rare today. Overwatch was originally released all the way back in May 24, 2016, and since then has seen a sequel in Overwatch 2 as well as innumerable events and updates that have re-introduced skins, added new ones, and offered limited-time event skins. The sheer amount of skins in the game is mind boggling, but there are a few that have not been brought back to the Overwatch Shop.

15 Brigitte Medic Skin (2022)
Support A Streamer Twitch Event
Although there are ways to enjoy Overwatch 2 without spending money, obtaining Medic Brigitte was certainly not one of them. This skin was only available during the 2022 "Support A Streamer" Twitch event for Overwatch 2, which rewarded those who gifted a sub to three separate channels streaming the game.

Get Ready For A Classic 6v6 Battle, As Overwatch Classic Brings Back The Highly Requested Game Mode For A Limited Time
Blizzard is bringing back 6v6 battles in Overwatch 2 for a very limited time, but some players are hoping the success will lead to permanence.
The sentiment was well-intentioned, but the $15 skin wasn't cosmetically a favorite among players, which made its purchase rates extremely low. Thus, Medic Brigitte is one of Overwatch 2's rarest skins, despite how recently it was introduced.

14 Nano Cola D.Va (2018/2022)
Anniversary Remix Challenge Event
This skin was rarely offered as a challenge event reward twice, once in 2018 and another in 2022 as part of limited-time events. The first time, you only needed to complete matches to earn the Nano Cola D.Va, as it was a skin released to celebrate the new Busan map set in the character's home country of South Korea. However, it was only included for a couple of weeks for anyone to earn.
Thankfully, this skin was brought back during the Anniversary Remix event in 2022, which saw the return of several classic skins. This included Nano Cola, which is designed to seem like a sponsorship suit to D.Va's mech she would have done as a famous streamer in Overwatch's universe. Unfortunately, if you missed that event, you'll likely not get a chance to collect this cosmetic.

13 Combat Medic Baptiste (2019/2022)
Story Release Challenge Event
The Support character Baptiste doesn't have too many skins, but the Combat Medic one he received in 2019 following the release of his story is considered a highlight. This skin is vastly different from Baptiste's other cosmetics, making it one of the most sought-after looks for this unique hero. Similar to D.Va's Nano Cola, Combat Medic was released as part of a limited-time challenge event anyone could complete.
Once again, this skin came back during the Anniversary Remix event in 2022, allowing many players to collect it. With another event like the Anniversary likely not happening for some time, you won't have the means to earn this skin soon.

12 LEGO Bastion (2019)
Bastion's Brick Challenge Event
The LEGO Legendary Brick Bastion Skin was part of a limited-time event called "Bastion's Brick Challenge" that took place in September 2019. The event provided players who participated with five sprays, six player icons, and, of course, the colorful block cosmetic for everyone's favorite robot. In an official collaboration with LEGO, the skin was introduced alongside a few Overwatch-themed LEGO sets, some of which are still available on Amazon.
Although the actual Legendary skin was easy enough to obtain, with players only having to win nine games to get it — the fact that the event only ran for half of the month combined with the fact that Blizzard has yet to re-introduce it, makes the LEGO Legendary Brick Bastion skin one of the rarest, and coveted, currently out there.

11 Widowmaker Noire Skin (2016)
Pre-Ordering Overwatch 1
Widowmaker is one of the franchise's most iconic heroes, so it's no surprise that the cold-blooded French assassin has received many skins over the years, but her most exclusive look by far is the famed Noire skin.
This edgy black-and-red outfit, adorned with details as sharp as the hero herself, was only available with a pre-order of the original Overwatch game, which means that only those who have been playing since day one will own this incredibly rare skin in Overwatch 2. While it did make a brief return for the launch of the game on the Nintendo Switch, it remains one of the least common skins across all platforms.
10 Comic Book Tracer (2020)
Tracer's Comic Challenge Event
✕ Remove Ads
Comic Book Tracer is another limited-time skin as part of an event called "Tracer's Comic Challenge" event that ran between September 15-28, 2020. Along with the colorful bubble-gum-colored suit, players could also pick up a player icon and seven Sprays. Since originally introduced, this skin has not made it back to the game, with players coveting it and even going as far as requesting it to return in the Blizzard forums.
That said, there is the possibility that Blizzard could re-instate the skin on the store, making it obtainable to everyone once again and thus reducing its rarity significantly. Only time will tell whether the Comic Book Tracer skin is cool enough for the game to resurrect once again.
9 Certain Overwatch League Season One Skins (2018)
Florida Mayhem, Los Angeles Valiant, & San Francisco Shock Skins
✕ Remove Ads
Although, in general — the OWL skins for the inaugural season of the Overwatch League are rare in themselves, perhaps what is even rare are the skins for Florida Mayhem, Los Angeles Valiant, & San Francisco Shock, as these initial colors were eventually changed. While old skins are now available on the shop for OWL, the chances that these old Season One skins will ever return are almost zero as they wouldn't fit with the team's current colors.

All Overwatch 2 Heroes Will Be Free, But There's Still A Catch
Overwatch 2 is getting a major update regarding heroes in Season 10, which is good for everyone, but it does have a catch for those who are starting.
Although not as flashy or as coveted or even desired as other skins, they are certainly rare. Perhaps on the same level of rarity would be Sigma's Season 2 OWL skins, as the character was just recently released at the time, and there were few notable players at the time using the character. Again, it's likely not a highly sought-after Overwatch skin, but it's certainly hard to come by today.

8 Maestro Sigma (2020)
One-Time Challenge Series
Arguably the rarest skin in Overwatch 2 you could get through challenge events is the Maestro Legendary outfit for the Tank Sigma. This uniform is a classy look for the mad scientist, almost giving you a glimpse of what Sigma looked like before his accident. The confident, sleek attire is a fan-favorite cosmetic, but it is almost unattainable as of this time of writing.
Right now, no events feature this skin, and you can't pay for it either. This is one of those rare looks lost to time amidst all the Battle Passes seen in the seasons of the game now. Perhaps it will return in the future, but for the moment, this melody is not one everybody gets to listen to.

7 Reinhardt's Raynhardt Skin (2021)
Blizzcon 2021
Raynhardt Reinhardt is not only one of the greatest alliterations to grace Overwatch, but it's also a reference to Starcraft, coming to fruition for Blizzard's 30th anniversary. Assuming the look of Jim Raynor, this skin was released during Blizzcon 2021 and cost players a hefty $40, making it one of the game's most expensive skins to date.
Naturally, this also makes it one of the rarest, especially since it's no longer available for purchase. Along with other notable Blizzcon-related cosmetics, it's more than possible that some people have this in their inventory without even realizing it, but those that want the cosmetics today might have a hard time finding them.
6 Kerrigan Widowmaker (2018)
Starcraft Limited-Time Anniversary Event
✕ Remove Ads
Another extremely rare skin for Widowmaker is the Kerrigan Legendary look, which debuted in 2018. This skin is a reference to the Starcraft character Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of Blades, who has a prominent role in that series. This cosmetic is a big departure from Widowmaker's typical look, even those seen in other Legendary skins introduced later in Overwatch and Overwatch 2.
Back in 2018, the Starcraft event tied to this skin only asked players to log in once during the month it lasted. The fact that this skin was only available for one month out of the multiple years of Overwatch's long-running success in its sequel makes it incredibly rare. Many new players would know how to get this Legendary skin, as it has never made another appearance in events following Starcraft's 20th Anniversary.
5 Tyrande Symmetra & Illidan Genji Skin (2019)
Exclusive Blizzcon 2019 Rewards
✕ Remove Ads
Tyrande Symmetra and Illidan Genji are some of the most sought-after skins currently in the game. Although many people ended up purchasing a Blizzcon Virtual Ticket for $50 in 2019 to get the skins, they have never been re-introduced on the shop in their original colors and form, making them incredibly rare.
As is the case with other Blizzcon-exclusive skins, the Hero Gallery in Overwatch 2 did introduce some of the old form factors back — but not in the original colors. Blizzard may be doing this intentionally so that those who own the original skins can retain their rarity.
4 Winston's Blizzcon Skin (2017)
Exclusive Blizzcon 2017 Reward
✕ Remove Ads
Overwatch 2 hero Winston is comparatively lacking in the cosmetics department, but the monkey scientist's Blizzcon skin stands its ground against the Noire skin. Although the simplistic blue-and-silver look may not be impressive visually, its appeal lies in that it was only attainable during Blizzcon 2017, either by attending the event in-person or by purchasing a virtual ticket.
With its release taking place only one year into Overwatch's lifespan, and with much of the community finding the skin to be unappealing, Blizzcon Winston inherently remains one of Overwatch 2's rarest skins.
3 Pink Mercy (2018)
Limited-Time Charity Events
One of the best looks for a fan-favorite character is Pink Mercy, a bright and beautiful look for the angelic Support character. This skin is perhaps the most pursued by players, as it was only purchasable through the Breast Cancer Research Foundation charity event that took place in 2018. This short promotional event was only followed up in Season 11 for Overwatch 2, where the skin was briefly made available again.
✕ Remove Ads
Blizzard also released the Rose Gold Legendary skin for Mercy during the second charity event, which has a similar look to Pink Mercy despite not being the original.
This skin was notoriously one of the only looks in Overwatch's history that you could purchase for real-world money directly. In the past, you had to buy loot boxes for a chance to get Legendary skins like Pink Mercy. Hopefully, this ever-popular look will return once again, but it doesn't look like it'll be any time soon.
2 Bastion's Blizzcon Skin (2016)
Exclusive Blizzcon 2016 Reward
Lovable Omnic character Bastion underwent a massive rework between titles, but one thing that remained stagnant was the rarity of his Blizzcon skin. Just like Winston's future counterpart, it could only be unlocked by physically visiting Blizzcon 2016 or by purchasing a Virtual Blizzcon Pass, which ultimately whittles skin ownership down to an even smaller percentage of players.
✕ Remove Ads
Since playing Bastion in Overwatch 2 is much more complex than it was in Overwatch, seeing this skin in-game is a truly rare occurrence. In fact, Blizzcon Bastion can be found on third-party retail sites being sold for upwards of $500, speaking volumes about the scarcity of this skin.
1 Zarya's Alien Skin (2019)
Vaulted Player Collaboration
Overwatch 2's rarest skin is Alien Zarya, which was created as a tribute to former Overwatch League professional player and 2019 MVP, Jay "Sinatraa" Won. The tuxedo-clad look was already an uncommon find, as it came at the cost of 200 League Tokens. However, the reason for its eventual de-listing is unlike other skins.
✕ Remove Ads
In 2021 Won was accused of sexual assault and Blizzard removed the skin from future patches, altered its appearance, and began offering refunds to all users that had purchased the skin. Won was also suspended from competitive professional play. The refund was optional, but thanks to its initial exclusivity, Alien Zarya quickly became the rarest skin in Overwatch 2.
