In March, the buzz began as promoters of the Hard Summer Music Festival announced its return, slated for Aug. 3-4.
This year, the highly anticipated event finds a new home at Hollywood Park, just outside SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. Fans of the two-day, multi-stage festival can look forward to an electrifying lineup featuring the best of EDM and hip-hop, all meticulously curated by Insomniac Events.
Celebrating its 16th edition, the festival is set to be bigger and better than ever, with never-before-seen stages, local Los Angeles talent, and a plethora of pre-gaming and after-parties spread throughout the city. Festival-goers can also enjoy pre-party festivities at spots like Grand Central Market.
Here’s what fans need to know before heading out to Hard Summer.
Lineup and Stages
This year, the Hard Summer lineup caters to electronic, house, techno, dubstep, drum and bass, and hip-hop. The fest will include its usual five stages, with the addition of a new local talent stage.
The HARD Stage will showcase some of the most popular names in electronic dance music. Grammy-nominated brothers and house duo Disclosure will headline on Saturday, Aug. 3.
Sunday, Aug. 4 will wrap with a headlining set by Fisher + Chris Lake: Under Construction. Nelly Furtado is also set to grace the stage, along with performances by Sofi Tukker,Bunt, Camden Cox, Oppidan, Sosa, and Teko, among others.
On the Harder Stage, attendees can look forward to rising stars and established acts. Saturday night will feature Rezzmau5, the collaboration between Rezz and Deadmau5, along with Wax Motif, 33 Below, Carola, Marry Droppinz, San Pacho and TroyBoi. Sunday will have sets by Subtronics, among others.
The Green stage will feature high-energy electronic music. This stage will feature sets from Zeds Dead, Dillon Francis,Allycvt, Hamdi, Kanine, Notion, Sub Focus and Chase and Status.
Over on the Purple stage, the focus will be on electronic and cutting-edge artists. Jamie XX, a member of The XX, will showcase his solo work on Saturday and Boys Noize, a pioneer in the techno scenes, will also bring his style to the stage. Featuring Channel Tres, Elderbrook, Kenny Beats, Overmono, and Pocket, the stage is for those looking to explore a more experimental side of electronic music. Sunday is headlined by Major Lazer and Elderbrook.
The Pink Stage will feature a mix of techno and house music with headliners like Kerri Chandler on Sunday and Seth Troxler B2B DJ Tennis on Saturday. Other main names include Mochakk and Eli Brown at the Pink Stage.
The BeatBox Boombox Art Car will host unique acts and offer a vibrant setting. Performers like Baby.com, Lechuga, and Panteros666 will bring their distinctive styles to this innovative stage. Fun2BJane B2B Mad Graves, Giselle Peppers, and Kian are the other standout artists.
And the newly added Jose Cuervo Locals Only Stage, will showcase local Los Angeles talent. Saturday will feature sets from Bianca Oblivion, Joaqu.n, Bianca Maieli, Baexploitation, Mapamota, Noir Jbw and Dina. Sunday will have Maddy Maia B2B Totti, Lalls B2B Cerulean, Cherry, Trax Unit, Capes and Soul Purpose.
Pre and After Parties
HARD Summer has revealed the full lineup for HARD Weekender, the festival’s annual series of pre- and after-parties across Los Angeles.
The festivities kick off on Friday, August 2, with a special pre-party curated by Zeds Dead’s label, Altered States. The dubstep duo will headline at Lot 613 with support from Toronto DJ Bobby Love. At the same time, Level Up will host a high-energy dubstep event at Exchange LA.
Following the festival on Saturday, August 3, attendees can choose from five after-parties. Overmono, Hamdi, and Pocket will deliver bass-heavy beats at Lot 613, while Seth Troxler B2B DJ Tennis, Chloé Caillet, and Heidi Lawden will perform at the 930 Mateo St. Warehouse. Academy LA will feature drum & bass legend Dimension, AVALON Hollywood will showcase bass house artist Matroda, and Exchange LA will present the techno collaboration KETBOI69 with KETTAMA and Partiboi69.
Activations
The activities at this year’s Hard Summer are endless, with surprise DJ sets, over 20 food and beverage vendors from Southern California, co*cktail bars, tattoo pop-ups, flea markets and more.
Additionally, HARD teamed up with Inglewood’s 1500 Sound Academy to select one of its students, Kiah G, to perform at HARD Summer’s Boombox Art Car.
