Transparency in SaaS pricing, should be the rule, not the exception.I was copied into a post today negatively commenting on software providers. The context, significant price rises that catch the client offguard. It frustrated me. [If the length of this post wasn’t a give away].Why? Because it gives the sector a bad name and directly tarnishes the good work we at Safety Champion Software have done, and the impact we’re having. We have never, and will never hold data #hostage due to an unforeseen pricing increase. We know how it feels. It’s happened to us. It’s soul destroying. Trust is lost trust. Exits are planned. Never. When it comes to financial investment, we’ve always opted for both clarity and honesty. We #proudly “grandfather pricing”.This means your current and future pricing is linked to your time of adoption.Early adopters are on plans less than those advertised now, and those who sign-up now, will be on better plans than those who join us later. It’s fair. It rewards those who joined our journey. To go a step further, in quoting, we clearly advise our customers on: (i) how, (ii) when, and (iii) by what margin, their licences will increase over the course of their contract. No surprises.Yes #1, I appreciate that being clear has lost us the occasional prospect due to their shortsightedness. Yes #2, I appreciate that the “SaaS licencing playbook” is [very] likely to suggest something like 👉 “raise your pricing by X%, and if churn is less than X%, it’s a win”.It feels unethical…so no.We’re very happy with our place in the SaaS ecosystem. We’re building an ethical business with a focus on a great product, trust and long term relationships. #safetychampion #pricing

🏆 G2's Best Software Awards are 𝙉𝙊𝙒 𝙇𝙄𝙑𝙀. Here's 5 reasons why they're such a big deal: 1️⃣ These annual awards are rooted in timely, authentic customer voice. Reviews from real users 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 from the last calendar year are used in scoring -- so you know the most recent, verified data powers these awards.2️⃣ G2 is the world's largest software marketplace, yet less than 1% of listed vendors secured a spot on this year's Awards.3️⃣ 90 million people came to G2 last year researching & reviewing software. And, the Best Software Awards launch was our biggest traffic day of the year. 4️⃣ Outside of the traffic we see on our own site, it's the promotion out in the wild that creates the real buzz -- the Times Square billboards, the complete domination of LinkedIn feeds for anyone working in B2B SaaS (sorry not sorry).5️⃣ We've got 34 different lists for software buyers to peruse. The best AI products, the best marketing & digital advertising products, the best products for small businesses... we've got a list for you.So without further ado, here are #BestSoftware2024 winners: https://lnkd.in/eytkBPHBAnd read more about the awards from Palmer Houchins here: https://lnkd.in/eiizQeCp

We don't feature gate at KnowledgeOwl.I was chatting with other SaaS CEOs about how much they can and do charge for SSO. Many only include it on their Enterprise/top pricing tier, while others charge for it as an add-on to the tune of $5k/year. We have one plan with all features starting at $100/month. And that includes SSO.Are we leaving money on the table? Signs point to absolutely. Does it make life better for both us and our customers? I like to think so.This might be one of those silly decisions I will rethink and change course on down the line, but I'm currently holding fast on our pricing being a competitive differentiator. And to be clear, we aren't doing it just to be different and compete on pricing. I like when software companies have straightforward, simple pricing. So that's what we aim to do. It's the platinum rule applied to business: Do unto others as you would want done unto you :)

Don’t be fooled by a bait and switch. Ask for clarity in pricing up front, and know exactly what you’re paying for. Financial surprises disrupt your budget and shouldn’t derail your projections. At Stewart Tech, we counter hidden costs with our honest pricing. With us, you won’t fall victim to software sin number seven. Want to know more? So cool to see T2D3 on the shelf next to the Product-Led Growth Book at SaaSOpen - March 28th, 2024 Austin Texas. The frameworks and systems in this book transformed how I think about B2B marketing, product management, and sales fundamentals. While it's not for everyone (lol—check some of the recent Amazon reviews), most feedback has been positive. And I know people who have moved into more senior roles as a direct result of reading this book and socializing the ideas with their leadership. So there's something here...But I think people get chapped when they can't find extremely niche answers to *what they think* are complex problems. The point of T2D3 (at least, in my opinion) is that marketing isn't all that complex. When you boil it down, marketing is really simple. People often skip over the foundational (sometimes boring) elements in favor of sexy growth tactics. There is a core set of fundamentals. If you deeply understand, apply (fight for), and execute them well, you'll set your company up for success. If you're reading this, it's too late to get a ticket to see Stijn's SaaSOpen session on the feature matrix framework, but you can read more about it in my posts below:- Overview: https://lnkd.in/gKffrSfd- When applied to product strategy and lifecycle planning: https://lnkd.in/g8BfmBs3- What it looks like in practice: https://lnkd.in/g3TvcDAq
