IT BREAKS LEFT COLLAR BONE Lynden Henning, twelve year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Henning of 504 North Second street, Effing- ham, broke his left collar bone Thursday morning while attempting to catch baseball. This is the third time Lynden has broken 1 his left collar bone.

While attempting to catch the ball he collided with Buddy Endebrock, twelve year old son of Mr.

and Mr. Boy Endebrock of 207 Market Avenge Elingham who was alse trying to catch the ball. Lynden was taken to physician where X-rays were taken. It was discovered that he had broken his collar bone. The Endebrock boy was not injured.

COCA COLA PLANT NOT TO BE IN EFFINGHAM The Coca Cola firm has decided against establishing $200,000 ant in Effingham and have released their option on route 32-38 between Center street and the Anchor Inn. plant would have employed thirty five men, thirty three of them persons. The option was held by the Hays Coca Cola interest at DuQuion and negotiations were carried on by Arel Preston, manager of the Olney Coca Cola plant. STATE AID HIGHER FOR EFF. INGHAM COUNTY SCHOOLS State aid for Effingham county schools this year increased $68.373 under the distributive fund law passed by the 66th General Assembly and claims for next year are another 930 higher, Miles E.

Mills, county school superintendent, has announced. Under the previous law, claims for the 84 Effingham county districts in the 1947-48 school year totaled 991. The county this year is eligible for $209,364. Because not enough money was appropriated to pay the special equalization claim in full, Mills said, $18,196 will be withheld temporarily. The remaining $191,168 will be paid in 12 installments to the five community unit school districts of the reorganized county system.

The schools have $50,177 more immediately available than under the Mills said. Biggest increase in the 1949-50 claims will be $81,008 for Effingham unit No. 40, which is allowed $151,801 compared with the previous claim of $70,793. The other allowances will be 657 for Teutopolis unit 50, a $26,201 increase; $35,000 for Dieterich unit 30, a $20,658 gain; $31,306 for Altamont unit 10, up and 167 for Beecher City, up $8,766. Amounts temporaily withheld will be $14,796, Effingham; $4,701, Teutopolis; $3,258, Dieterich; $2,715, Altamont; and $1,051, Beecher City.

000 DIES WHILE ON VISIT Grover C. Rentfro, 63, was found dead in bed Saturday morning at the home of his brother, Jeff Rentfro, with whom Mr. Rentfro, his wife and son, Albert, were visiting. The Rentfro family who reside in Oklahoma City, had attended the funeral of Mr. Rentfro's sister, Mae Sullivan, in Terre Haute Thursday.

The deceased man i is survived by his wife, Rose Agnes, two sons, Albert and Woodrow, both of Oklahoma City, and two daughters, Mrs. Fern Wilkerson of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Ethel Slay of Tulsa. Funeral services were held at 3 P. M.

Monday at Johnson funeral home and burial was in Rentfro cemetery in Effingham. 000- BLUE CROSS SERVICE ALTERS PLAN FOR EFFINGHAM AREA Blue Cross Service has altered its plan in the care of patients in the Effingham area because of the emergency that has been cast. on this vicinity by the destruction St. Anthony hospital. The Blue Cross Service has obtained permission to change its contract for the benefit of those members who normally be patients of St.

Anthony. Those who have borne expenses since the hospital fire consideration will be given if the patient mail receipted bills for medicine, bandages to the office in Alton. 000 HOME BUREAU BROKEN INTO AND ROBBED The Effingham County Home Bureau office located at North Fifth street Effingham was broken into and robbed Monday night July 25th. The robbery was undetected at first, since it was thought that an authorized person had taken money from the petty cash drawer. It was later discovered, however, that the door to the office had been forced open and about three dollars taken from the drawer.

The Effingham city police were notified of the robbery. The home bureau office is located in the Washington Loan building at the corner of Jefferson avenue and Fifth street in Effingham. -000 BIRTHDAY PARTY Lawrence Meyer of Effingham was honored on his birthday Thursday night at the Till Top Cafe, north of Effingham.
